Did you know?
Lakewood Ranch FL, is the country’s largest ‘Green’ community. The Florida Green Coalition is making sure that the eco-system and environment is protected. Corridors have been set up for wildlife, and storm water conservation areas have been put in place. Traffic circulation systems have been put in place to slow traffic, trees to shade the roads, multiple street accesses allow drivers to enter and leave the community quickly without idling on their engines. Planning around existing trees and wetlands has allowed them to flourish and reclaimed water is used for watering landscaping and golf courses. The amenities are versatile and suitable for all age-groups. Pools and recreation centers are all green certified and efficient. Golf course fertilizers are all organic and eco-friendly and all plantings and landscaping is sustainable being either native and/or drought tolerant, and Florida friendly. Deed restrictions have to follow the ‘green’ rules ensuring that residents are maintaining the green standard and of course education is the key to maintaining this. All staff in the communities, along with the staff from the coalition are routinely educated in the requirements for green certification. Throughout the community there are numerous signs and plaques educating the general public on the environment. Each builder in Lakewood Ranch has their own features that make their homes green, but all have to pass the certification. If you would like to know more about this wonderful community, call me!
